Breast Augmentation @ Dr. Brian Evans Plastic Surgery

Breast augmentation, or augmentation mammaplasty, uses implants to enhance and fill out the breasts, helping you to have the figure you always dreamed of or regain a figure lost through weight changes or pregnancy or balance uneven breasts. Breast augmentation is an excellent choice for women who have lost their breasts to cancer, helping them feel beautiful and feminine again. In addition to balancing out your figure, breast augmentation will help you gain self-confidence and improve your self-image.

It's important to discuss your hopes and goals with your surgeon to make sure that your expectations can be met. Breast augmentation is not for everybody or every breast. You will be asked to have some medical labs and evaluations done. Your medications will be checked and possibly adjusted. It is also recommended to get a mammogram done pre-surgery and another done after, for a baseline. If you currently smoke, you should quit. Not only is this important for your general health, it will also help you heal better and faster after your surgery.

Brian Evans Plastic Surgery at West Hills Hosptial & Medical center features several breast augmentation procedures to choose from, including breast implants, breast lift, or breast reduction. Dr. Brian Evans uses only the safest techniques and materials during breast augmentation surgery, and all of our breast enhancement procedures are performed within a safe, certified operating facility. If you are unhappy with the shape or size of your breasts, we encourage you to visit our West Hills Hosptial & Medical center for a breast augmentation consultation.

Breast augmentation surgery is done in four steps: anesthesia, incision, implant insertion and placement, and incision closure. Anesthesia could include a general anesthetic or IV sedation. There are three different styles of incisions. Inframammary is done under the breast, transaxillary is in the armpit and periareolar is done under the areolae. The different incisions are each appropriate in different circumstances based on criteria such as individual anatomy, type of implant and the degree of breast enlargement. After the incision, the implant will be placed into a pocket in the breast, either over or under the pectoral muscle. The incisions are then closed and will fade over time.

At West Hills Hosptial & Medical center, the model breast implant patient is someone who has set realistic goals for their surgery, and is seeking improvement and enhanced self-esteem rather than perfection. Because every patient is different, our approach to each breast implant surgery begins with a thorough discussion of treatment options. The surgeons at our West Hills Hosptial & Medical center currently use saline breast implants, and we can advise patients about the pros and cons of each type of implant placement (i.e. under or over the muscle) during the initial breast implant consultation.
